Pymatuning Chapter, NSDAR
Sharon, Pennsylvania
The Pymatuning Chapter, NSDAR, is involved in many activities as they fulfill the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) mission of promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America’s future through better education for children.

DAR Good Citizens Award - This award is open to high school seniors who demonstrate the qualities of a good citizen, dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism, in their home, school, and community. A Good Citizen for a school district is selected by their school's faculty. That person is then asked to fill out their biography information, answer a few questions about being a good citizen and to write an essay that will compete with other Good Citizens from other schools in our local competition. The winner will then compete in the state and national competitions.
DAR School - The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has been helping children receive an education in remote areas since 1903. Pymatuning Chapter supports the schools with financial contributions, Box Tops, and Labels for Education that the schools can exchange for needed items.

DAR Project Patriot - This committee supports America's service members and their families. The chapter has provided several types of items including DAR phone cards, iTunes gift cards, socks, and toiletries that were sent to the Chaplain's Closet at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany.

DAR Scholarship - Scholarship are funded by an endowment of funds, left in a will. or are a gift by either an
individual or family. Some of the scholarships have certain requirements or conditions. Both our National and State organizations are required to honor those wishes. The amount of the award for each scholarship is based on the actual income from the fund and takes into consideration the amount of money that is already committed.

Service for Veterans - The DAR has a long and proud history of serving the veterans of America’s wars. Locally, the chapter has supported efforts in collecting coffee and supplies to the Michael A. Marzano VA Outpatient Clinic in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. The Fisher House in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is another organization that receives donations from the chapter. Pymatuning Chapter also adopts a Veteran each Christmas and buys them clothing, a coat, shoes, and/or other items that they might need.
